The Ministry of Education and Science takes its own initiatives and synchronizes its actions with other institutions, incl. The Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, the Employment Agency, as well as with organizations, municipalities, vocational schools and local businesses to "close the circle" of services - providing support for literacy and learning content, acquiring qualifications for finding a job.

Career Guidance

Within each university there is a career centre, providing the students with the following free services:

  • Information about vacant trainee and job positions;
  • Information about particular employers;
  • Career orientation:

What type of knowledge and skills are required for facing the challenges of a particular position?

How can my appointment to that position help and what are the possible next stages of career development?

The students and the PhD students have the right to use campuses, canteens, medical cares, discount at travel with public town and inter-settlement transport, as well as the whole base of the higher education establishment for study, scientific-research, sport and cultural activity and other benefits for normal life and study under conditions, determined by the state and the higher education establishment.

Career Guidance

The Preschool and School Education Act regulates counseling and guidance in preschool and school education. The parents have the right at least once a year to receive information, support and consultation in the kindergarten or school on issues, related to education, career orientation and personal development of their children.

Definition of the Target Group(s)

  • Children of migrants;
  • Children of citizens from member-states of the European Union, the European Economic Area and Switzerland;
  • Children and pupils from ethnic minorities.

Specific Support Measures

In the last decade, a number of measures were taken in Bulgaria to ensure equal access to quality education for every child, student and student in higher education. A comprehensive inclusion policy was built, aimed at creating conditions to support the individuality of each child and student by removing obstacles to learning and creating opportunities for the development and participation of children and students in all aspects of life.

Reponsible bodies

Since 2009 the National Employment Agency has been using a new methodology for evaluating the proposals for professional orientation and adult education. It assesses the three main factors for providing training: teaching curriculum, teaching staff and facilities. The evaluation of proposals for vocational training is made by external experts nominated by the social partners.
