Malta launches asynchronous and blended adult learning

The Directorate for Research, Lifelong Learning and Employability (DRLLE), Malta’s main state adult learning provider, launched Learning Box on 30 November 2021, expanding, for the first time, Malta’s public adult learning provision to asynchronous online learning and blended learning.
Courses are brought together by professionals and adult learning educators, shifting the method of learning from in-class or educator-directed to digital and educator-supported. Both the methodology of provision and the content of the courses offered reflect Malta’s current societal needs.
Asynchronous online learning provides adult learners with flexibility of time, place and pace, increasing the accessibility of adult learning, particularly among those who are time poor, have care responsibilities, have mobility limitations or transport challenges. This flexibility is considered key to DRLLE’s continual efforts to enable, support, inspire, and engage adult learners to embark and fulfil their learning needs.
