Quality assurance
During the last decade, quality assurance in education has become the focus of educational policy. This interest lies behind the effort to include evaluation measures and strategies in the education system’s statutory structure; measures which interact with and complement each other, supporting feedback provision and improvement across the various levels of the system.
The assessment of the education system is a collection of processes that can be split into two broad categories:

Internal (self) evaluation is carried out by educational institutions at all levels including the tertiary level and also by specialised sectoral institutions and authorities including the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports itself. Managers of these institutions are responsible for internal evaluation.

Quality assurance in Croatian education is managed by several government agencies, each focused on specific level of the education system.
In pre-primary, single structure primary and general secondary education (ISCED 1-3) quality assurance is managed and monitored by the Teacher Training and Education Agency.
