ALLET classes

('ALLET' = allemand langue étrangère - German as a foreign language)

Classes in the lower cycle of classic secondary education (ESC grades 7e to 5e, i.e. the first 3 years of ESC) that offer extra teaching in German. Available to learners who reached the level of 4.2 cycle in primary education (ISCED 1) with a very good level in French and mathematics, but with difficulties in German.

 

 

In Luxembourg, there is no single  framework law for all programmes offered in adult education. On the basis of the different types of education provided and the laws regulating this provision, it is however possible to distinguish the main, though sometimes overlapping, categories:

Circa 1900: initiatives from workers movements and Christian communities targeting adult education.

From 1945: adult training organised by professional chambers relating to their business areas.

From 1960: evening courses for secondary education and for the obtention of the technical engineer diploma (Adult secondary education - deuxième voie de qualification).
