Overview

Student fees and financial support systems are important instruments of national policies in higher education as they play a role in supporting access and can also have an impact on student progression and completion rates. In European countries a variety of policy approaches are applied. 

The purpose of this tool is to present data on the study cost and the financial support provided to students and their families in European higher education. Data covers short, first and second education cyclesbased on the International Standard Classification of Education (ISCED).  Data is collected by EACEA, Unit A6 (Eurydice) and covers 39 education systems members of the Eurydice network. The last update is available for 2023/2024 academic year. The information presented focuses on fees and support in public or government-dependent private higher education institutions.

The comparative section covers two topics: fees and financial support. Each of the topics is clustered in sub-topics.

Data is presented per education cycle, category and status of students. Data on financial support is presented per type of support.

The national information section presents detailed description of specific national policies and measures applied to student fees and financial support.
