Amendment to the Act on Vocational Education and Training 

In October 2025, members of the National Council of the Slovak Republic approved a package of education laws and implemented the most extensive education reform in recent years. The reform package also includes an amendment to the Act on Vocational Education and Training (Act No. 324/2025 Coll.), which introduced the following changes:

In October 2025, members of the National Council of the Slovak Republic approved a package of school laws and implemented the most extensive education reform in recent years.

European, global and intercultural dimension in curriculum development

Where adult education takes place in schools and leads to achieving a level of education, the topics of internationalisation and global education are included in the curricula to the same extent as with other pupils. Otherwise, the inclusion of these topics into education is in the competence of the educational programme provider.

Higher education institutions are self-governing institutions and the creation of study programmes’ content is fully within their competence. The European dimension of higher education is promoted mainly in the form of common study programmes.

Issues of internationalisation in state education programmes


Issues of internationalisation are a part of state educational programmes for kindergartens,  1st and 2nd-level of primary schools, and gymnasiums in the educational area Man and Society (Človek a spoločnosť).
