Adult education

There are no specific regulations on academic guidance in the legislation concerning adult education. The language providers often organize a form of guidance, for example in identifying the training needs and learning needs or to assess the best follow-up training.

 

Definition of the target group

Approximately 30% of students live with one or more disabilities. One third of this group – 10% of the total number – experience this as an obstacle to attending education and training. The Equal Treatment (Disabled and Chronically Ill People) Act applies in such cases. Under its provisions, higher education institutions must adapt their facilities effectively to accommodate disabled students, unless this incurs an unacceptable burden for the institution.

Early childhood education and care

Children aged two to five whose language development lags behind that of their peers can receive extra help through early childhood education and care. Through supervised play they learn to use language and increase their vocabulary.

Early childhood education and care

The aim of early childhood education (VVE) is to prevent very young children from developing language disadvantage. Through supervised play, children can catch up on their language skills so that they can get off to a good start at primary school. Attention may also be devoted to children’s social and emotional development.

Special education caters for children with special educational needs, such as children with a chronic illness or a disability, and children whose education requires a special approach.
