Learner mobility

In education, by the Decree of 29 November 2017, the Government of the French Community established new methods of validation of prior learning for admission, exemption and certification in one or more Teaching Units of social advancement education

 

Pupil and student mobility

There are several programmes which enable pupils in compulsory education to experience stays in a different linguistic community in Belgium or in another country, within the framework of their studies: EXPEDIS (EXPérience Educative d’Immersion Scolaire – ‘Educational Experience of School Immersion’), ERASMUS+, SCHUMAN, and a virtual exchange program : ETWINNING.

In the French-speaking part of Belgium, there are structures whose exclusive mission is orientation and others which develop an axis of orientation in their catalog of missions.

Whereas in pre-secondary and secondary education the Centres for Psychological, Medical and Social Services are independent of the schools that they serve, in higher education it is the responsibility of each institution to take measures of reception, information provision, assessment, guidance, remediation and reorientation and to report on these in its annual activity report.

Academic guidance

The Centres for Psychological, Medical and Social Services (CPMS) are places of listening, where multidisciplinary teams (educational psychologists, educational psychology auxiliaries, social auxiliaries, paramedical auxiliaries and physicians), acting under professional secrecy, offer free services.

Definition of the target group(s)

Specialised education is intended for children and teenagers who, on the basis of a multidisciplinary assessment, are deemed to be in need of adapted education due to their specific needs and their educational possibilities. Specialised education is organised in full-time schools.

Non-school institutions taking in early childhood

The Childcare Quality Code (arrêté du 17 décembre 2003) stipulates that the childcare facility should help ensure the harmonious integration of children with specific needs.
