2025 marks a major milestone for our Network: we celebrate its 45th anniversary. Since its establishment in 1980, Eurydice has served as a cornerstone in delivering reliable, comparable information on education systems and policies across Europe. It continues to support evidence-based policymaking, promote cooperation between European countries, and offer a trusted resource for decision‑makers, researchers and educators.

Over its four-and-a-half decades, Eurydice has not only expanded its National Units, broadened data coverage and deepened insights into early childhood, secondary and higher education, but it has also kept pace with the evolving needs of education systems. The Network has explored issues of pressing relevance for policymakers, shedding light on the challenges and opportunities shaping education today.

David Crosier, a long-standing Eurydice analyst, says: “I’ve only been here for 17 of the 45 years, and it’s working with such inspiring people from all over Europe that makes this work so rewarding. We all care about education and its role in European society, and we all want to see things improve. While we are motivated by a common sense of purpose, we bring different experience of our own education and culture, and this makes it a very vibrant and dynamic place to work and exchange ideas.”

Along the way, the Network has developed new, intuitive and more powerful tools to visualise data, turning complex evidence into accessible knowledge that inspires debate and supports better policy decisions.

Reaching this anniversary is a milestone to honor what has been accomplished together and to look forward to the road ahead.

Florence Mondin, Head of the European Unit of the Eurydice Network, shares this perspective: “Eurydice has been connecting knowledge and people for 45 years, helping to make education more transparent and comparable across Europe. This anniversary reminds us of our mission: to keep supporting evidence-based policies for future generations.”
