The class exam is taken by a pupil who, for justified reasons, was not assessed at the end of the school year in one or all subjects, as well as in those subjects from which he/she did not attend one third or more classes, i.e. program contents provided by the educational program for the school year.
A class exam is also taken by a pupil who has not attended school due to hospital treatment or other justified reasons for at least 60 days, which is decided by the school teachers' council.
In the event that at least one third of the classes provided in the educational programs are not realized due to the school's fault, the school is obliged to organize the preparation of pupils for taking class exams.
Alternative ways of completing education by taking a class exam, in accordance with the Law on Vocational Education, are provided to a pupil who independently or within a sports club prepares for an international sports competition, at the suggestion of the national sports federation, a pupil preparing for an international knowledge competition or due to exceptional personal, family and social circumstances, fulfilling the teaching obligations can be adjusted to the pupil in the manner prescribed by the school act.

The decision to extend the status of a regular pupil is made by the school principal, at the proposal of the teachers' council.
The pupil has the right to acquire education in parallel, i.e. to follow several educational programs. In this case, the schools agree on the manner of fulfilling the obligations of the pupils. The pupil is then recognized grades from general education and professional theoretical subjects if the subject programs do not differ, which is decided by the teachers' council. Most often, pupils of art schools are educated in parallel; in addition to the art school program, they also complete the gymnasium or vocational school programs.
