In the field of vocational qualification for adults in regular education (formal adult education), the pilot project “vocational qualification for adults in regular education for medical foot care” will commence in September 2025.

In the area of non-formal adult education, the project “reorientation of non-school adult education” aims to increase the visibility and quality of adult education in East Belgium and thereby promote active societal participation. Within the framework of the Education Vision 2040, concepts are being developed that prioritise reducing bureaucracy and ensuring quality assurance to provide educational institutions with more freedom for their substantive work. A concrete outcome will be a new law to promote non-school adult education, which is expected to come into effect in mid-2027. Currently, this concept is being developed in collaboration with the Council for Adult Education to jointly find sustainable solutions.

2024

Since September 2024, a working group has been meeting, including the subsidised adult education institutions, with the aim of advancing the reduction of bureaucracy in non-formal adult education.

In formal adult education, the position of coordinator of an institute for school-based further education was established on 1 September 2024 to provide those undertaking this role with a better employment law perspective.
